Randy, pumps mounted on tractor,M&W pump hydraulic ports on top. They interchange between M and SM.IH pump for SM through 450 and matching W series the hydraulic ports are on bottom with bolt on manifold or pipes for line hook up.Also has aluminum housing. The IH pump will bolt to M from engine serial # 228081 produced 1950 and newer, but on some covers the snout on end of pump shaft for hour meter drive if equiped will hit cover before bolts are tight. It can be sawed off in most cases as its not used. Another thing make sure the bottom pump mount bolt nearest to block is not to long.It will hit cam gear and cause metal shavings at the least.Deisel pumps don't work on gas.
