The parts book looks like there is a raised angled section that lines up with the keyway in the countershaft. That faces to the rear. In the IT manual it is not at all clear which way it goes, but it also looks like the rear side of the hub is a little thicker. If you are lucky, it will only line up with the mainshaft drive gear the right way around.
