It has to be just stuck on. I believe carriage bolts were used so that you could tun the nut at one end without the bolt itself turning. Carriage bolts tend to get stuck hard sometimes because of there design. That square shoulder can jam pretty tight into the square hole. Heat and force would be my answer. Pete
