The military used a lot of tractors where I worked. I never saw any IH Indusrial tractors, but they used a lot of Case tractors for pulling gun motor carriages to and from the firing ranges. They had hand clutches and dual wheels on the rear. The government orders everything on contract bidding. They may have changed that since I retired. They were always going with the low bidder and they got shafted by doing this. They used a lot of the 504 Farmalls for mowing the ranges. Then they had JD's and later Fords. All by low bidding. They also used a lot of the 140's on the golf course for pulling those fairway mowers. They're the reel type mowers and you don't see too many anymore. Hal PS: They used a lot of Super A's too and they had a foot throttle too.
