U-6 powerplant engine

These guys are right about the reasons for the castings on that side. Fuel pump was one main reason. Also, look and see if there is a mount behind the pulley on the crankshaft. The U-6 mounted to its base off this mount. I have 4 U-6 engines and one is in an M. From most research I have done, they say it is the same as an M. I have one that has the bore of a Super M. There were quite a few variations with IH reman parts and such. If the casting numbers are ground off and stamped back over, it is probably a reman part.
