Last week I was raking hay with my 1943 H when something up in the sky caught my eye. It was a large low flying airplane coming up over the trees at the end of the hay field. As it got closer I was amazed to see that it was a WW-2 B-17 bomber. It passed overhead and continued on to wherever it was going with a roar that only four large radial engines can make. I got to thinking about the odds of two 1943 machines crossing paths in 2005, both restored and earning their keep. I did a search on currently flying B-17s and learned that some appear at air shows and rides are available for $300 and up.
