Joe: your 300 will use the large fork. To use a small fork on your tractor hitch one must use a 1/2" filler plate under the fork on each side. That is the 1/2" gab is speaking of. I made some of these large forks and used 1-1/8" x 3" steel. Worked well, but was hard obtaining the taper on the sides. If I were doing it again I would use 1" thick material and weld on a wear plate at large end.
