I probably should post this on the implement board, but from past experience I usually do not get as good of a response over there. I have an old IH #31 sickle mower with worn out ledger plates, as well as the rock guards being pretty worn - I suspect most have been on there since dad bought it new back in the mid 50's. It mowed hay every year up until about the mid 80's then sat until last year when I resurrected it for service. I purchased new rock guards from the local farm chain store, (on sale for 2.97 each). I happened to notice they had that infamous "made in china" sticker on them. Am I in for disappointment, or will they work ok. I also bought some new wear plates as well, but they appear to be US made quality parts. I plan on mowing approx. 30 acres this year with it if all goes well. I considered replacing the ledger plates on my old IH guards, but for the $$ I took the easy way out. Anyone have any experience with these?
