But, did it blow back out the carb this time? Probably not. Air, fuel, fire and a little compression at the right time. That's what it takes to make an engine run. It's all basic stuff. Sounds like you've got air and fuel, all you need is fire and compression at the right time. I think your timing is still a bit off. To get TDC on the compression stroke, remove the front, #1, plug and use your finger over the hole to judge compression.
