I posted a picture last week sometime, of a short block of a 450 I was putting together, bout 95 hp,,,,, anyways, I got that 450 running yesterday. Found out how expencive a gear reduced starter can be to rebuild. It sheered the key in the starter drive rite off the bat. Looks like it was loose for a while. I fixed it with a new key, cut to fit. So it now turns over really good. Fires right up, dont sound like no M or 450 Ive ever heard before,,, it sounds,,,, well, wheres the 4-16 plow at DAD?????? The hydralics seem to whine alot,, up under the dash, where the resivoir is, it is a fully loaded 450 now, has fast hitch, power steering, full on fluid, and the pump seems to be silent. Power steering is good at an idle, but gets harder to turn when the engine rpms are up bout 1/2 throttle. Oil is on the dipstick, above the add. HYTRAN, or just straight hyd fluid? which is best?
