I borrowed a timing light with advance and double checked the timing. Per the specs in my shop manual which says magneto running timing is 35* B TDC, it is dead on the money. Always good to know, and it eliminates any doubt.
So back to the governor. I did some minor quick adjusting per the instructions in my manual and there was a small improvement. So I went a little deeper and set the governor the way the manual says. Borrowed some other fancy little gadget from my mechanic friend and we also set the RPM's according to the manual. Hooked up the truck via a tow strap, put the truck in neutral, held the brake slightly to put the tractor under a load, set the carb while pulling under load.........AND, the tractor I don't think ever ran as good as it seems to be right now.
