I put a power steering unit on an M last year that mounts like the one you describe. I used a large "C" clamp to press the pin out of the crank shaft. Spray the pin with penetrating oil and use a short piece of pipe over the pin on the opposite site of the crank shaft. The c-clamp should press on the pin on one side and press the pipe against the crank shaft on the other side. It was still a tight fit but worked. Does your pump have the oil resevoir attached to the top of the pump? If so you may have problems with clearance for fan between the radiator and the oil resevoir. I had to get a seperate resevoir that attached to a head bolt and had a short hose that attached to the top of the pump. This type of set up gives you more clearance between pump and radiator.
