The 300 is a later model replacement for the H. The H was built 1939-1953 with a C152 24HP engine, 5spd, band brakes; the Super H was built 1953-1954, C164 33HP engine, 5spd, disc brakes (and the last ~ 1/3 were available with live hydraulics); the 300 was built 1954-1956, C169 36HP engine, 5spd, disc brakes, and also available with Torque Amplifier, live hydraulics, live PTO and a two point fast hitch (instead of the old fixed draw bar); and finally the 350 was built 1956-1958, C175 39HP engine, 5spd, same options. After that they hung a 6cyl engine out front and called it the 460. The 300 still has a similar 5 spd transmission to the old H, but the Torque Amplifier (T/A) allowed a shift on the go underdrive or low-range which essentially gives you 10 spds forward, 2 reverse. The tractor's serial number should be on a metal tag rivoted to the left side of the clutch housing which would let you ID the year it was built. The numbers you listed with the R2 and R3 suffixes are casting numbers that ID each piece, not the whole tractor. Think of it as an H on steroids ;) Nice tractor. Stan(VA).

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
