Sit on the tractor. Now on the left hand side in the middle of the tractor just behind the engine there should be a metal tag rivited to the casting about two inches by three inches in size that should have some numbers on it. Post a picture of the tag or every character that is on the tag, and someone here will tell you what you have and almost to the minute when it was assembled!

Sorry about the right/left confusion, I obviously don't have one on the place at the moment. The serial number suffix letter codes identify:
D- 5000 ft high alt pistons (higher compression)
S- Torque Amplifier & Independant PTO options
J- Rockford Clutch (maybe someone else can help here, I guess either an alternate supplier or poss considered a heavy duty clutch?)

In ordering parts I would identify it as a Farmall 300, serial num 11720. If they ask, add with the 169 cubic inch gas motor (but I don't think the diesel engine was even offered until the 350 came out). The HP number was just to answer your question, the parts guy woln't ask for it.

The 300 is a later model replacement for the H. The H was built 1939-1953 with a C152 24HP engine, 5spd, band brakes; the Super H was built 1953-1954, C164 33HP engine, 5spd, disc brakes (and the last ~ 1/3 were available with live hydraulics); the 300 was built 1954-1956, C169 36HP engine, 5spd, disc brakes, and also available with Torque Amplifier, live hydraulics, live PTO and a two point fast hitch (instead of the old fixed draw bar); and finally the 350 was built 1956-1958, C175 39HP engine, 5spd, same options. After that they hung a 6cyl engine out front and called it the 460.

The 300 still has a similar 5 spd transmission to the old H, but the Torque Amplifier (T/A) allowed a shift on the go underdrive or low-range which essentially gives you 10 spds forward, 2 reverse. The tractor's serial number should be on a metal tag rivoted to the left side of the clutch housing which would let you ID the year it was built. The numbers you listed with the R2 and R3 suffixes are casting numbers that ID each piece, not the whole tractor.
Think of it as an H on steroids ;)
Nice tractor.

Your tractor is worth exactly what you paid for it. Worth is what a buyer and a seller agree on at the time of sale. Now compared to what some other buyers and sellers in other locations on other days have agreed to, YOU MADE A GOOD BUY. By the way even though you're way out in Idaho, we all can hear you fine on this forum just fine, you don't NEED TO YELL. My nickel Dick Davis
