Not in my experience. Crank failures I've seen so far were either bad machine work, low oil pressure (bad pump or run out of oil) or swapped bearing caps. >4. Is the crankshaft in a 100 the same as in a 140 or not? No. Journals are the same but front pulley is different for the new water pump layout (and they attach differently).
