Short caps = Single Baffle Caps Tall caps = Triple Baffle caps. The caps that are involved in the gas cap safety program are triple baffle with a safety catch that allows the cap to partially loosen and relieve pressure before the cap is able to be removed from the tank. The triple baffle cap was factory fitted since about '50 or '51. Company that makes the new caps is located here in the Milw. area.
