I can help with a few of these. Valve lash, I can check and get back to you. I do belive that you can get the valve cover off without pulling the tank, but it is a tight fit. Injectors are cheap to rebuild/replace, try that and see if things change, as far as starting on five, how long do you use the glow plugs? You should have them on for at least sixty seconds before starting no matter what the outside temp. is, and you should continue to hold them on until the engine runs smooth and the smoke clears up. Check your glowplugs. Those brakes were always kind of troublesome. Disassemble, clean them up. Water pump replacement is very easy and straightforward. Your nearest Case-IH dealer will have a wiring diagram for your 460. They should be more than happy to make you a copy.
