farm. H Loader problems.

Hello,
Could you help me and tell me why my loader won't pick up any weight? It will work fine with the bucket empty, When I bought the tractor, got it home and I noticed one hyd. cyl. wasn't hooked up, I put the connection on it, tried it and it still did the same thing. I was told by the farmer I bought it from that the hyd. fluid he uses is 30 weight non-deter.,, I call the tractor dealer and he said to drain it out and put 80-90- weight in it, The dealer said that is what is suppose to be in it, not 30 weight. And of coarse the old farmer said no way !! So anyway, I can't get it to pick up a small bucket of firewood, or sand more then 3-4 feet high. can you tell me whitch one is right and what should I do to fix it? I was also told that somewhere there is a check valve or something to turn to afjust the lifting power, I can't find that either, does anyone know where it is? Thanks Tim
