Well I think the Ms are the same as the Hs which would mean 3 bolts to attach. It's common for the top piece of the mounting triangle to be broken because it's not very well supported back there. If one were to back up into something with the shield, that part would go. I'd look again. Might the hole be covered with dirt and grease? Sometimes the shields get bent so the holes on the tangs pointing inside on the shield don't line up with their mount holes. I can't imagine the left side of the mounting triangle breaking off.
