I know of a wd6 serial number 546. All the books and information tell me that IH began their serial numbers at 501; and that all the 6-series were listed together. I looked at the engine number which was high and I am sure the motor is original (the early tractors had a single oil filter and a change over mechanism similar to the crawlers), the books tell me that the MD which had the same motor began in 1949 and the wd6 1950 so perhaps this explains the high number. Does anyone know when the first wd6 was produced? Could this be close to the first one? Thanks. C Clark
