Hi, very interesting problem.. screeching stops when clutch is depressed..that would indicate the problem is somewhere from transmission drive shaft back thru transmission .. but you say when transmission is in neutral it screetches with clutch engaged. Does it screetch if you change the 1,2,3,4 shift lever to different gears ? Does this tractor have TA? I know it was not common to have TA on 454 only on 574 and larger. The transmission shaft runs inside the PTO shaft until behind bell housing and in front of transmission. This is where hydraulic driven PTO clutch pak is to engage/disengage rear PTO shaft. The PTO shaft is splined to the pressure plate and turns all the time. Since screetching stops when clutch is depressed, my guess the problem is a bearing on main drive shaft on the input to the transmission. Good luck and please post solution when you fix it. JB
