I've got a 350U (same hydraulic system as 300U)with power steering and auxillary valves, so there's likely to be some differences, but I had a similier problem. There's a pencil shaped brass screen SOMEWHERE in that valve or oil resevoir. (Mine was in the power steering diverter valve)When that get's plugged, the pressure goes sky high. It blew out the service port on my steering valve, and it wasn't until I took it TOTALLY apart for repair did I find it. IH will sell you a new one, but I couldn't find anyone that could tell me where it went. My parts manual lists a seperate "regulator & safety valve assembly" for tractors not equipped with power steering. It will look like another valve body, but with no handle or ports to attach hoses to. (It may be between your existing valve and the transmission cover, or possibly behind it in a seperate position) THe screen will be in there. If you DON"T have one on your tractor, you need one. I may have one around here, so email me if you need one. ibby458@yahoo.com.

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
