Scott: I do not mean to start a ruckus, but I always thought the 550 was weak in the top not the bottom. I would take a V engine any day. Many years ago we had a milk hauler who ran six tandem trucks all with 6-71 Detroits. One was a V, and because of the balance it would out run the rest.
