The slant 4's were 1/2 of either a 304 V8 or 345 V8. I had a '65 Scout 80 with a slant-4 cylinder, 152 cu in engine. esentially a 304 with the left bank of cylinders missing. Later I had a '78 with the whole 304. Same thing was done with the 345, I believe. You are right though, good engines, just about bullet prof.
