Hey guys, I am sorry for leaving a "wanted" post on the discussion forum, but I am looking for a 200 ci IH 4 cyl. it looks like a 6 cyl with 2 cyl cut off it. LOL, it does not have to run, but rebuildbable, and not cost a million dollars. it is for an air compressor. any leads on one in northern indiana would be great!

Is that a Slant 4 like used in Scouts and such? If so it is a excellent engine and i think I still have a few here. I know there was one in the pile out back,,...Jim

The slant 4's were 1/2 of either a 304 V8 or 345 V8.
I had a '65 Scout 80 with a slant-4 cylinder, 152 cu in engine. esentially a 304 with the left bank of cylinders missing. Later I had a '78 with the whole 304. Same thing was done with the 345, I believe.
You are right though, good engines, just about bullet prof.

As I recall the big 4 was 196 cu. in. and 1/2 of a 392. I could be wrong.

I assume you are meaning the 200 ci IH 4 cylinder produced in the late 60's early 70's? You do realise this is the best Engin IH ever produced. Look for someone parting out a I-544 gas or F-544.

I was not aware of that, this one had blown a head gasket, and they left the thing blown up, and did not fix it. it sat for 3 years, and it rusted up 1-2. head is still good though. How many hp are these engines? Chad

Just because the two cylinders are rusted up does not ruin the engine.

Get the pistons out and clean up the cylinders. You might be surprised how good shape they are in.
