I understand all of the information you have provided. I am working on the input shaft off the clutch only. The rest of the parts have already been reassembled. The input shaft assembly I am working on is built up on the bench and then installed in the transmission case. The only way that the input shaft is positioned is with a snapring on the OD of the outer race of the front input shaft bearing. I am convinced that this retainer ring is needed. I would like to find a picture of this area of the transmission for a Super M. The transmission I have has been abused for many years and the reason I have it apart is because it was so full of metal bearing parts that they were jamming in the cluster gear. For example, the pilot bearing that I removed from the transmission was a double row ball-bearing and the one I received from the dealer was a cylindrical bearing. This transmission has been repaired numerous times and I don't believe it has been assembled correctly for a while. Please reply with more information on this input shaft assembly.
