I will probably get chastized by the IH guy's here but I would recommend against any of the 06 series or later IH tractors with a gear transmission for loader work. The problems encountered shifting from forward to reverse will drive you nuts with loader work. Only thing I can think of that would be worse is a 2 cyl JD. A IH hydro would be ideal for loader work but if you are intending to do any tillage to speak of I think you will probably be disapointed. (I don't have any personal experience with IH hydros other than a friend I know has one). Condition of the trans can be kinda a problem and I think they are kinda spendy to fix. For all around work I would suggest a deere with the synchro range trans. These make a nice loader tractor (we have a 3020 with loader). I like the synchro better than the power shift for loader work. The Shifts from forward to reverse are synchronized and all in a straight line with logical working speeds. The power shift you have to go through all the lower gears and it is a U shaped pattern. Another tractor to consider if available in your area is a 70, 90, or 94 series Case with their 3 speed powershift. This unit has a inline shift pattern from forward to reverse. Relatively solid unit and can be bought a lot cheaper than equilivent Deere. JM2CW JT
