AC, The disc brakes are not hydraulic, but a ball and ramp set up that are mechanically operated. A good way to ID the brake type is to look at the housings (which are just below where your feet sit, on the sides of the tranny housing). The band brakes have a smooth sheetmetal cover, while the disc brakes have a cast cover with about 5 or 6 bolts going through the cover. The band system uses a rotating lever that mounts on a post while the disc system uses a rod that goes straight in from the front, usually covered by a rubber boot. Stan(VA).
