Another test you can try: Disconnect the wire from the generator ARM terminal and temporarily ground the FLD terminal (run a wire from the FLD terminal to a GOOD ground). Now run the engine at speed and measure the voltage at the ARM terminal. If the generator is good you will see 15 – 20+ volts between ARM and ground.

Note: A 6 volt truck generator can be installed on your Cub, but you must have the matching truck voltage regulator for it to work correctly. Also you may have to mess around changing pulleys to get the generator to spin at the proper RPM.
