Hi, I have an IH 140, which I use primarily to prep beds and cultivate vegetables. In the fall, I spread horse manure and compost with it, since its the only other tractor I have with a PTO. The spreader is a 163bu. New Holland. I keep it in 2nd gear to transport full, 1st gear to run. It doesn't really grunt at all when I turn it on and start spreading in 1st. It does seem to grunt a bit when I start out in 2nd gear. Otherwise it seems to work fine, horse doo is mostly shavings so its light, and compost is nowhere near as heavy or messy as cow manure off a pad. Am I doing any permanent damage to the engine, tranny or pto by putting this kind of load on a 140? Thanks, Paul
