A Good Weekend with the H

Since I live in town I don't get too much of a chance to do any real work with my H, but maybe that's all about to change. A few weeks ago I got hooked up with an antique power association here in Colorado. They do a lot of the farm work on one of the nature preserves here in the area and I was able to take the H out there Saturday. They have quite a large pumpkin patch that was done for the year and they needed somebody to disc the old vines and weeds up. This was the first time in probably 30 or 25 years that I had done any work on a tractor other than a little mowing and stuff like that but it comes back pretty easy. I had the H hooked to an old 7 or 8 foot drag-type tandem disc. The first time over the ground, I pulled it in third cause the ground was so rough. After I got over the patch once, I decided that it probably needed to be gone over again, so I started over it on the diagonal. This time over, the ground was quite a bit smoother and the disc was going in almost to the axles. I was almost sorry to get finished. The wife said I still had a grin on my face hours later that evening. Probably the most fun I've had in quite a while. It really felt good to get back on the tractor and do some real work with her. The old H performed flawlessly all day and we are both ready to go back and do some more work. Sorry for the long rambling post but just had to tell somebody about all the fun I had. Larry
