Its pretty common owen, Like Bill said the gas induction system is not the best on these gas start diesels. They run very rich when first started. As they warm up on gas they clear up. You want to remember that the only throtle control while on the gas cycle you have is the choke. All three of mine start with a little smoke until they warm up. You notice that after you have gotten the tractor up to operating temp on diesel and shut it of and restart it on gas how nice it starts. Well when that head is hot the gas vaperizes a lot better.
