Does it make the noise when sitting idle with the clutch down? If it only makes the noise when you are moving, it may be the input shaft going into the transmission. I don't know abou the H's but the M's like to wear the bearings out and take out the first two gears on the input shaft. I have never fixed one myself, but my dad has and he says it aint to tough. Then again he used to be a mechanic. If it was me and you wanted to keep it as original as possible, fix the noise rather than chnaging out massive parts of the tractor. I hope you have fun with it.
