NO FIRE!!!

I just got my first tractor. It's a 1945 FARMALL (H). It's not getting fire. The people that I bought it from had it for 2 years, they changed it from the factory coil to an external 6 volt coil.(They rigged it.) There is fire on the pos. side of the coil and power on the neg. side also, but no power to the coil wire. Here is how they had it wired. A wire goes from the key switch to the pos. side of the coil. A wire goes from the neg. side of the coil to the condenser and points there is power to all of this but no power to the coil wire. Is this 6 volt system wired wrong or what? If it is, could someone please e-mail me and tell me the proper way to do this. I have had this tractor for about 2 weeks. I just want to hear it run and I am tired of my wife laughing at me lol.
