For the H, I assume the M was similar, the original seat was used from 501--15697, or until early in 1940. This seat had the smaller spring, but was a little different from the small-spring seat that followed. My parts book indicates that the "late" small-spring seat and the large-spring hydraulic seat were offered from 15697--up. That does not necessarily mean that the hydraulic seat was actually available when SN 15968 was built, just that the seat was available as a retrofit. I have always assumed that the small-spring seat was on most of the early-mid 40's tractors, and the hydraulic seat on most of the late 40's early 50's tractors. So, after all that I can't give you a definitive answer, except to say that both seats were offered for several years, and that there probably was no changeover, just that the small spring was phased out.
