If you can shake that shaft,then the bearing is wore out!Or are you not refering to the shaft coming out of the tranny.I also dont understand why youre only tightening the dog hand tight.Tighten it down good with a pipe wrench or something.If theres a bad gap in between the dog,the coupling and/or the pump dog,then maybe its already wore out and needs replacing.
