My 1955 Farmall 300 seems to turn over very slowly even with a new 6v battery. As a result it is very difficult and slow to start. Is this typical of 300s? Is it advisable to convert to a 12 volt system? If so where do I start? The guy that sold it to me had an 8 volt battery in it. Nobody around here has ever heard of an 8 volt battery and as result I can't even get it charged. I haven't been able to start it since last summer and my farmer neighbor suggests starting it using a jump from a 12 volt source. He says it won't hurt anything if I only do this on a limited basis to get it started initially. Is this advisable?. Any advice and suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Dave K.
