Here in the deep south we called the W series tractors Wheel Tractors whereas you people in the north called them Standards". I really didn't respond to that, although I have never seen anything to indicate W in a W series tractor stood for Wheel. It did however say STANDARD on the decal. I always thought that was a reasonably good reason to call them Standards. I will say also I always found it quite reasonable to call all wheel tractors, WHEEL TRACTORS. Now I do question Mc Cormick being used to identify a specific tractor. Mc Cormick was on most decals well into the 1960s. My current Farmalls SA, 130 and 140 all have Mc Cormick on their original decal. In the past I know my Farmalls 300 and 560 had Mc Cormick on decal. I am reasonably certain it was on my 504 and 656. I am positive Mc Cormick was on one of them. I dare say it was on all standards and later utilities well into the 1960s. The whole system used on IH tractors was quite redicuolous. Just look to left of this screen and the possible MAKES listed for IH tractors in the serial numbers listings.
