Was there ever factory row crop cultivators available for other models besides the "c" or "h"?

Rob: Every Farmall ever built had a factory row crop cultivator to match the tractor.

How about other models such as the W4,W6 or even later tractors such as the IH 414 etc?

Rob: No it was just the Farmalls. Tractors with the W or B perfix are not Farmalls although you here a few people refer to them as such. They were all Internationals and the Farmalls were the row crop tractors. Over the years the Farmall made such a good name for itself that most of the IH tractors sold were indeed Farmalls.

Hugh how about this for picky? Weren't the W series McCormicks vice Internationals? Doesn't affect your response about cultivators a bit. Farmall = rowcrop = cultivator is the way remember things. Dick Davis

Dick: I will not argue with you on that one. Geographically there has been a lot of difference in terminology. I had a guy respond on another thread couple of days back, he said in reference to W series tractors." Here in the deep south we called the W series tractors Wheel Tractors whereas you people in the north called them Standards". I really didn't respond to that, although I have never seen anything to indicate W in a W series tractor stood for Wheel. It did however say STANDARD on the decal. I always thought that was a reasonably good reason to call them Standards. I will say also I always found it quite reasonable to call all wheel tractors, WHEEL TRACTORS.

Now I do question Mc Cormick being used to identify a specific tractor. Mc Cormick was on most decals well into the 1960s. My current Farmalls SA, 130 and 140 all have Mc Cormick on their original decal. In the past I know my Farmalls 300 and 560 had Mc Cormick on decal. I am reasonably certain it was on my 504 and 656. I am positive Mc Cormick was on one of them. I dare say it was on all standards and later utilities well into the 1960s. The whole system used on IH tractors was quite redicuolous. Just look to left of this screen and the possible MAKES listed for IH tractors in the serial numbers listings.

The H had about 20 different cultivators available if you count the cultivators made after the H wasn't being made any more. The H could handle a 2 or 4 row, C could handle 2 or I think a 4 row veggie cultivator. The C had only a few versions that I know of if again you count what was made after the C was replaced buy the SC, 200, etc.- 2 row, standard rear gangs, 2 row w/FH rear, the veggie cultivator, and maybe just a 2 row Fast Hitch version. AG in IN, that is a very impressive list of cultivators! I have been trying to determine the model number of a cultivator I'm restoring. It is the model that is featured on "International Harvestoer Tractor Data Book" by Guy Fay. Looks to be a common picture in more than one publication. I beleive it was taken at Hinsdale Farm. I would like to find an operating manual but of course I need the model number first, any help would be appreciated. Dick Davis

I don't remember off the top of my head, but if and when I find my copy of that book, I'll try and get that info to you. AG
