Leaking carburetor

I have an identical problem in two Farmall A tractors that I received from my father-in-law last summer (after refurbishment). One of the two tractors was used late last summer with occasional difficulty restarting during routine use. The other I essentially never used but started every month or so.
In the fall both tractors began experience the same problem shortly after starting. The sequence of events is as follows:
I start the tractors without too much difficulty. They will run for 5-15 minutes then die unexpectantly. I can't restart them for several hours (3-6hrs) after this occurs. Every time I note that gas is dripping from the carburetor after the engine stalls. The only way I can stop it is to shut off the gas line at the glass bulb/sediment filter.
My father-in-law took the carburetor of one apart but did not discover any abnormalities.
Obviously my knowledge of these beauties could fit into one of their gas caps but I need help getting them running again.
