1940 IH Farmall A

My brother saw a farmall in the woods behind a house....he ask the people about it and they said if he wanted it he can have it, It use to be there fathers. We took the top end off and checked out the cylinders, no wear. The manifold was rotted away at the exhaust part. I found one at a auto junk yard for him. I got a handcrank on e-bay for it. There is a place in southern, Md who sells parts and stuff for the "A" model. The place is Gardners John Deere dealership. Well we put the top end back on and tied a rope to the tractor and pulled it with his truck....it ran and stop.....then we pulled it behind my truck about 20 feet and he yelled stop, it was running. A few turns of the screws on the carbs and that was that. Now we can crank it over with the handcrank. About 3 pull up and it fires up. We was impressed for a 63 year old tractor it still runs. The best part of it. It does not smoke. So far my brother has like $100.00 invested in it.
