Although my H steers OK and there is not too much play in the steering wheel when turning, I noticed that when I jacked up the front of the tractor to pack the front wheel bearings the entire inside shaft has VERTICAL play of at least 1/2" maybe more. I took the top cover off the bolster and the big nut on the top is snug. There was old grease/oil in it so I cleaned out the top end as much as possible without disassembly and repacked with new grease gun grease. Do I need to worry about the vertical play? And if so, what bearing needs to be replaced? The top of the shaft seems to rub lightly on the underside of the bolster cover. This is the entire shaft and axle assembly on a narrow front that I am talking about. Thanks for the help.
