MKirsch: Can't answer your question, however I went through 150 years of IH. What I'm seeing is one bottom mounted plows for A, B and SA, and I'm seeing H versions of the same plow. The difference being the A, B and SA units sold 28,000 units between 1941 and 1951, while the H version sold less than 1,000 in same period. Given those figures I suspect the writing was on the wall before the first C was built in 47-48.
Clearly if one had 36" or 38" tires he could pull 2x14 just about any conditions. H may be a bit faster than the C but it still was quite capable with two bottoms. The same can not be said for 24" tires, under some conditions, one can on ocasion, wish that 2x12 would turn into a 1x16 or 1x14.
