One bottom mounted plow for C

MKirsch: Can't answer your question, however I went through 150 years of IH. What I'm seeing is one bottom mounted plows for A, B and SA, and I'm seeing H versions of the same plow. The difference being the A, B and SA units sold 28,000 units between 1941 and 1951, while the H version sold less than 1,000 in same period. Given those figures I suspect the writing was on the wall before the first C was built in 47-48.

Clearly if one had 36" or 38" tires he could pull 2x14 just about any conditions. H may be a bit faster than the C but it still was quite capable with two bottoms. The same can not be said for 24" tires, under some conditions, one can on ocasion, wish that 2x12 would turn into a 1x16 or 1x14.

The moldboard plow for my C is model C-193, its a 1-16 bottom.

Red: Are you sure that plow was model designation C-193, or was it just 193. I have a parts manual for 193 plows and they are refered to as A-193, AV-193, 193 hi clearence and just 193. No mention of a C-193, but it also doesn't say it covers all 193 plows. All those 193 versions I listed above are single bottom 14" or 16". The H single bottom is refered to as H-80.

I never had a 193 plow, nor a C or SC, just curious.

Take a look at this... Any ideas what it belongs on?

Maybe it's not an IH plow like he says... Didn't want to crawl up on that rotten old wagon and break my neck to look for the IH part numbers.

Plow's no good as anything but a lawn ornament anyway. Moldboard's wore out. Point's been broke and welded back on.

I have the parts book for all of the C attachments at home. If you need me to I can look through it tonight and see if their is a C-193 plow in it. Drop me an email if you want to look it up. This plow mounts just like my C-294. Randy

According to the list at WHS, the C-193 was only built in '48 and '49.

The plow on Syracuse Craig's List is for an A (not Super A). I didn't check the picture for every last part, but it appears to be surprisingly complete, including a cushion spring attachment (didn't see lift or depth control levers).
