Hello, Who is still using a original 6 volt starter on a tractor converted to 12 volt? My Dad has had one on his SMTA ever since I was a kid. It sure seems to turn the engine over faster than his 450 with a 12 volt starter. I think as long as you don't crank it for more than 5-10 seconds at a crack it is pretty tough to burn an old 6 volt starter out. I ask because I am thinking about putting a 6 volt starter on my SM with a 2-71 Detroit Diesel in it. I have to get a starter for it anyways and I'd rather have it turn faster for easier starting. Yes...I already have cables on it that are bigger than my garden hose. What do you guys think? Mark
