Clean the bore above where they will be moving. If they begin to move, then push them both directions and clean the scrapings ahead of them on the way out. do not hit on the rods at all. Use hardwood or brass to apply force to the pin bosses from below, and a capped pipe to push from above (just smaller than the ringland, and carved to fit popup parts of the piston if any). Pulling the crank out of the engine may be necessary to get to the 2-3 bolts. Do not use a "bigger" hammer, swelling the piston/s can crack the bores and ruin the block. Good luck, and be patient.
