As I have learned this week, the stuff has several names including washing soda, soda ash etc... the official name is sodium carbonate...and you must be careful to distinguish that from sodium bi-carbonate that is in the Arm and Hammer box at the grocery store. Go to the pool supply department in Lowes if you have them in your area. "Aqua Chem Ph add" is one trade name of the stuff. I am also told you can get it at farm supply as pot ash in 50 pound bags.
