I agree with Janicholson, hard grease may cause headaches in extreme cold weather and WD40 shouldn't be used on anything, its one of the poorest lubricating devices on the market, it will dry out within days and you are right back where to started. Use a light oil like "3 in 1", but a relacement bendix is likely the answer.
