Actually, every IH casting I have seen has had a red oxide primer all over the inside of it. It should not be rubbery though. When I've seen it come off, it is in chips. Is it the same color as the inside of the filter housing of our 806, which is located in the post on page 5 (another dumb question on hydraulic oil) about the water in the hydraulic oil? If so, then that is probably where it is coming from. The one time I saw the stuff come off and in the filter was on our Farmall 806 that got water in the hydraulic oil. I had never seen it before and haven't seen it since, so I assume the water must have something to do with it. I would say to stop draining the hytran, as that has to be getting expensive, and stick to just replacing the filter. Have the filters been getting any cleaner? I cut off the paper covering on the filter and then look in between the pleats to see how much stuff is in there. I would just keep switching filters until finally they quit plugging, then drain the fluid and replace it a final time. I am sure someone else will have some better ideas.

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
