I'm having the very same problem. Had the tractor for two days, used it, then it started stalling whenever I let the clutch out too fast. A few minutes later it died. Now it will start, but runs only a few minutes and dies. I have not checked the screen in the carb yet, but all other fuel line parts I have cleaned out. Have also drained the bowl. The points look new. It runs fine for the first few minutes after starting, then starts to miss, then dies. The previous owner converted it to 12 volt, using an old Delco-Remy alt and a resistor between coil and distributor. Although it started right up when I went to look at it, it has not been charging, and the battery is dead. I have to jump it. I will follow up on the suggestions thus far posted, and would like to hear if anyone can think what else is going on. Just started my tillage today here in Blue Hill ME. Planting peas right away.
